Lorsch sits west of Bensheim, where the Bergstrasse gives way to the flat Ried. For riders from Lorsch, my studio is only a few minutes away. You work directly with me, Lloyd Thomas, in the session.
Many riders here enjoy flat, fast routes in the plain, often towards the Rhine. On routes like these, an efficient, calm position over long distances makes the difference. Ride east and the Odenwald climbs are soon in front of you.
Why a calm position matters on flat routes
On flat, fast rides you often hold a similar position for a long time. If your hands go numb, your neck tightens or the saddle presses, it adds up over the kilometres. I find the cause rather than just treating the spot where it hurts.
The session for riders from the Ried
Lorsch sits about eight kilometres west of Bensheim, out in the flat Ried, right next to Kloster Lorsch. Riders from here rarely chase elevation gain β they cover long, fast stretches on the flat instead. That is exactly what the session is built around: not one hard effort on a climb, but a position that holds over hours. After the movement screen, I check how you sit under sustained load: do your hands, neck and saddle stay calm, or does pressure slowly creep into one spot? I adjust saddle, cleats and cockpit so the position still works after hours in the saddle, then work through the changes in a clear order. You leave with a fit report and the final measurements.
